An automated auction sniper is an agent-mediated e-commerce solution established for the purpose of enabling eBay purchasers to automatically execute a bid in the final seconds of an auction for an item being sold on eBay. eBay auction sniping allows users to conceal their position as a potential bidder of an item thereby minimizing the threat faced by other auction purchasers. This lessened threat mitigates the likelihood that these other bidders will place a bid at a higher price; and therefore an eBay auction sniper theoretically has an increased likelihood of winning an auction at a lower price than a non-auction sniper.
